Winter Wreaths For Your Door and Mantle

Hey Ya’ll,

If you don’t have time to load up your home’s exterior with twinkling lights or can’t be bothered with a shedding tree adorned with beautiful bulbs, there’s one easy way to instantly add holiday cheer to your abode: a winter wreath!

Screen Shot 2013-12-11 at 1.09.09 PMWhat do you think of these lovely blue themed wreaths? How about these wreaths with beautiful bursts of red?

Screen Shot 2013-12-11 at 1.11.22 PMA classic green wreath is always a good choice, too…

Screen Shot 2013-12-11 at 1.16.01 PMIf you’re crafty, try stringing leftover bulbs together using some wire or hot-gluing bulbs to a bare wreath (click HERE for a tutorial for the wreath below from

Another fun idea is spray painting some holly to create a metallic, sparkly wreath:

Twig & Twine, Studio CastilleroIf you keep it simple you can easily use pine cones, candles, red holly, or even a simple green garland to add a chic nod to the holidays at your winter wedding.

This Woman Proves That Donning a Wedding Dress Can Make You Feel Beautiful At Any Age

Screen Shot 2013-12-03 at 11.56.18 AMHey Ya’ll,

I saw the cutest story this morning on the TODAY show! It was a segment all about a 70-year-old woman who’s life-long dream of wearing a beautiful wedding gown is finally coming true, thanks to an organization called “Second Wind Dreams.”

Screen Shot 2013-12-03 at 12.49.34 PMThe woman’s name is Ruth Sullivan and she was married following WWII in 1946. There was no dream dress, no big reception, and no fancy honeymoon. Just a simple ceremony in a minister’s study and a night at a local hotel. All these years later, even though her husband has passed away, Ruth is still in love with the idea of going to a bridal store to try on the beautiful gowns she sees on reality television show’s like TLC’s “Say Yes the the Dress.” And that’s just what she got to do!

Click HERE to watch her shop at David’s Bridal and try on dresses for her entire family.

I was touched to see how beautiful she felt and how neat something so simple like trying on wedding dresses, even at 70, can make someone’s day all that much brighter. Just another reminder that it truly is the little things in life that make all the difference!

The Knot Industry Gala (and Me!) in This Month’s CeciStyle Magazine

Hey Ya’ll,

Last month, I told you all about the big event that I designed for The Knot and all of the hard work and great vendors that made the Gala a total success.

the_knot_gala_new_york_public_library_new_hollywood_glam_v172_om_1aThis month, my good friend and the talented designer of the event’s gorgeous invitations, Ceci Johnson, put together this beautiful feature in the Style section of her magazine.

As Ceci stated, “This year Brian Worley from YourBASH! was the master planner, and we worked together to brainstorm and then bring a “Hollywood with an Edge” concept to life.”

To see how Ceci was inspired by the event’s stunning venue as well as many of my design selections, head over to Ceci Creative Tips.

As always, I was so impressed by the way Ceci was able to infuse the sleek black, gold and pewter palette we decided on with all of the different design elements of the event. Her invitations were nothing short of brilliant. Bravo, Ceci New York!

Last Minute Halloween Inspiration!

Hey Ya’ll,

Since Halloween falls on a Thursday this year, many people will be hosting Halloween parties this weekend. Are you ready? If not, I’ve got a few ideas for anyone looking to put together a party of their own, create a last minute costume or decorate your home in time to greet neighborhood trick-or-treators.

img50Let’s start off with a little party decor inspiration via Williams-Sonoma! I love the chic, gothic-vibe of their Halloween decor this year. It immediately caught my eye when they sent out their most recent e-newsletter.

Screen Shot 2013-10-22 at 5.32.36 PMClick HERE to see all of the great ideas and products I pinned via Williams-Sonoma for Halloween.

Expert Tip:Subscribe to e-newsletters from your favorite party supply stores. They may seem like junk-mail to most, but you’d be surprised how many fantastic party ideas, recipes, and amazing deals I’ve gotten all because I subscribe to (and actually open!) the e-newsletters from my favorite retailers.

Screen Shot 2013-10-22 at 4.30.43 PMAnother great source for Halloween party inspiration and supplies is Koyal Wholesale (another e-newsletter I never miss!). They really hit the nail on the head this year with the perfect Halloween color palette:Screen Shot 2013-10-22 at 4.30.33 PM
If you’re not into this bright color palette, try a simple black and white theme. Here’s a mantle we designed for a YourBash! event last year:

a12f816bb451d2eabd4cec299d42f281Try placing a few large lights in your front-yard to project green, orange or even a black and white strobe effect onto your home. It will give it an instant spooky feel without going to a lot trouble!
