Last week I was in Scottsdale, AZ at the Montelucia Resort & Spa for Engage! 13, or as I like to call it, “wedding camp”. This was my third time attending the luxury wedding business summit and my second time speaking, which I am always honored to be asked to speak to such an incredible group of attendees.
Over three days, the Montelucia hosted a number of events, the first night around the pool which was a little chilly but with heat lamps and gloves it was perfect and the food was quite tasty. The second evening was the dine around where the speakers each host a table for diner and it is a more intimate opportunity to get to know some new faces and some familiar as well.
The last night was the annual gala which is always the most fun as we get the chance to unwind and be guests at a party since the majority of us in attendance are usually working at them. Todd Fiscus of Todd Events out of Dallas (a fellow Texan!) transformed the ballroom for dinner and dancing using bursts of Pantone’s color of the year: Radiant Orchid. My favorite touches were the hanging floral arrangements and…
… this beautiful placecard wall. Each person’s name was on an individual bird cage that let you know what table you were sitting at and they were all lit up with a battery operated light. It was very creative!
Beyond the parties, Engage is also an opportunity to listen to others in the industry give their insight on everything from design, planning, photography, the magazine world, catering, and the business of being successful! By day three and numerous speakers later, I am always inspired and ready to take on the world with new wealth and knowledge that I plan to incorporate into our success at YourBASH!
I’ve really got to hand it to Rebecca and Kathryn from Engaging Concepts who put on all of the Engage events, they’ve created a summit that rivals any other that I have ever attended. I look forward to seeing all my new friends at each Engage summit and can not wait for the next one in June 2014 at the Ritz Carlton in Bachelor Gulch, Colorado.
Lastly, video coverage of the event was done by none other than I Do Films (you may recall their awesome video from the Knot Gala!). Keep an eye out for a familiar face around the 2:15 mark and check out all the Twitter and Instagram pictures at #engage13 if you want to see how a bunch of wedding and event professionals party!
