I came across an interesting article on Forbes.com about Why Brides Are Refusing To Get Married in 2013. According to the article, “Numeric anomalies in the calendar effect when brides choose their wedding date, and we believe that the number 13 in 2013 is causing a small but meaningful number of brides to avoid getting married this year.”
At first, I couldn’t believe engaged couples would postpone their weddings in fear of the unlucky “13” in 2013, but I guess there are so many other superstitions brides follow (examples above) why not this!
This topic has been widely discussed by brides in online chat rooms this year, TheKnot.com’s Denise Favorule says, “We’ve seen some chat among the brides on our community boards about the unluckiness of the number 13.” TheKnot.com has also noticed a growth in the number of registered event for 2014 compared to 2013.
Would you let an “un-lucky” number affect when you set your wedding date? Like Friday the 13th, for example. If not, do you have other superstitions that you follow? Let me know in the comment section below.
