If you follow me on Facebook, you may have noticed that I’m back in New York City this week for a site inspection and more planning for The Knot Gala this Fall.
One thing I’ve noticed in the event planning world, is a rise in the popularity of donuts! A couple of years ago, everyone was replacing cakes with cupcakes for special events. Now, it’s all about donuts. Not to mention, cronuts—the donut-croissant hybrid!
In NYC, people wait in long lines at the Dominique Ansel Bakery in SoHo to snag just one of their tasty hybrid pastries that have been known to sell out in under an hour! Their highly coveted cronuts are made of a croissant-like dough that’s fried in grape-seed oil, filled with cream, rolled in sugar, and topped with a flavored frosting.
There’s also the mini-donut option. Companies like The Fry-Girl of L.A., will set up a station at your event and crank out piping hot mini-donuts, put them in bags of six, and offer a variety of toppings that your guests can choose from.
Regardless of what kind of donuts you decide to serve at your next big event, check out these fun ideas for donut presentation and pairing that I’ve gathered from around the web.
Drooling in 3…2… Enjoy!
