Honestly, I wish that MGM would consider making a new 007 film each year because they are always super entertaining, even though the formula is pretty standard… there are many explosions, they destroy a ton of really expensive cars, 007 has cool gizmos (but not as many in this movie as there have been in the past), the action is fantastic, and he always falls for a beautiful woman.
The film’s theme song is by Adele and I felt that it went along perfectly with the imagery in the opening credits, all of which is presented in true Bond style! Here’s a video featuring the theme song, in case you haven’t heard it yet:
Skyfall showcases Judi Dench as M more than the other installments, and I felt that she really shines in the role. The plot centers around M’s career heading up MI6 and her past coming back to haunt her via a disgruntled agent played by Javier Bardem, who is just flat out creepy in this movie! He is the ultimate villain and will make your skin crawl.
As usual, the movie’s locations are amazing and absolutely stunning. In fact, the imagery was so gorgeous, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I would have designed the party for the film’s premiere had I been given the chance!
This time around, the franchise offers new insight as to where 007 came from and his past. They also blow up more than a few cars that I would love to own, like the Land Rover Defender that gets banged up right off the bat!
If there’s one scene that I enjoyed the most, it would have to be when 007 enters the casino…
