My YourBash! business partner and I had the pleasure of producing an event honoring George Shapiro last Saturday night, June 30th, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Over 500 industry insiders and icons of comedy came out to celebrate “A Night of Comedy”, including the evening’s host Russell Brand.
The event featured performances by Sarah Silverman, Garry Shandling, Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno, just to name a few.
In order to create a unique backdrop for this special event, we transformed the classic ballroom into a comic playground with caricature-filled wall art of George’s fans and foundation supporters.
Our intent was to create a playful and fun atmosphere, so we set up interactive food stations where guests could create their own sliders, get custom coffee, snack on fresh-made doughnuts and churros, and order delicious sushi and sashimi.
These stations were the perfect way to get people up from their tables and talking about all of the yummy food. Next, we created centerpieces themed with all of George’s favorite things…
The centerpieces included “Ice Cream” cake pops, mini sluggers, L.A. Dodgers mini-helmets, a bottle of Don Julio tequila, margarita glasses filled with salt-water taffy, a Porsche beer glass and red converse tennis shoes.
To end the evening, Shapiro was presented with the ‘Lifetime of Bliss Award’ from the David Lynch Foundation to commend his all-around lifetime of bliss and contributions to film, comedy and friends.
What do you think of our playful design? Let me know in the comment section below.
And finally, I can hardly believe it, but tomorrow is the Fourth of July! I hope you will share your photos if you’re planning to host an Independence Day party (Click HERE for a few of my festive red, white, and blue party tips!). Have a safe holiday, everyone!
