Today I’m sharing a two-part YouTube video that hits very close to home for me. These videos feature a young man named Ben Breedlove who has had a heart condition since he was a child, and who also went to my school, Westlake High School. Warning: This video will likely make you cry…
A friend sent me this video while I was writing out my New Year’s Resolutions (see yesterday’s post!), and it made me realize that the most important one of all is to live every day as if it were your last and to cherish the friendships you have made and the people that are in your life. I’m going to try to remember to enjoy the process of living, instead of always saying, “Everything will be better tomorrow after this job is done,” or “Just one more week to go before I get a little Brian time back” etc., etc.
Here’s part two of Ben’s video, which he posted right before he passed away suddenly two days ago (apparently while in the backyard with his younger brother).
He made this video after an incident occurred at WHS and he had to be resuscitated to share with his classmates his journey with his heart condition. It is incredibly moving and should serve as yet another stark reminder to us all that life on Earth is short and not in our control.
