The Ultimate Halloween Playlist

Hey Ya’ll,

It’s Halloween! Do you know what the soundtrack for your party sounds like yet?

If your party has a specific theme, then let that guide your music choices, otherwise, go for classic Halloween tunes.

For example, here’s a haunting must-have tune for any Halloween gathering:

Or, put a modern spin on your Halloween playlist by taking a cue from the chilling meets chilled-out Drive soundtrack. Two of my favorites are “Nightcall” by Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx and “Under Your Spell” by Desire.

Here are a few more songs, both old and new, to consider adding to your Halloween playlist:

“Howlin’ for You” — The Black Keys
“Zombie” — The Cranberries
“Superstition” — Stevie Wonder
“Monster” – Lady Gaga
“Another One Bites the Dust” – Queen
“Dead Man’s Party” – Oingo Boingo
“Superstition” – The Kills
“Thriller” – Michael Jackson
“Killing Spree” – Chromatics
“Weird Science” – Oingo Boingo
“Spiderwebs” – No Doubt
“This is Halloween” – Marilyn Manson
“I Put A Spell On You” – Bette Midler
“Jump in the Line” Harry Belafonte
“Disturbia” – Rihanna
“Witchy Woman” – The Eagles
“Monster Mash” – Bobby Picket
“(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”
“Time Warp” – The Rocky Horror Picture Show
“Witch Doctor” – James Hutton
“Werewolves of London” Warren Zevon
“Cemetery Gates” – The Smiths
“Bodysnatchers” – Radiohead
“Spiders” – Wilco
“Little Ghost” – The White Stripes

Here’s another great Halloween playlist you can stream via Spotify:

What’s your favorite Halloween song? Let me know in the comment section below.

Remember, music sets the mood for your guests and helps establish your party’s atmosphere (i.e. dance music vs. spooky, low-volume music guests can talk over). With a little bit of thought and research (and the iTunes store!), you’re sure to end up with the perfect soundtrack to your extraordinary Halloween experience!

  1. I always like listening to a bit of Gravediggaz around Halloween. While a good half of their music is awful, there are a few horrorcore raps that they do that hold up under my obsessive repeat listenings.

  2. Thank you for the great list, I downloaded some songs I hadn’t thought of yet to our playlist for annual party. May I suggest some add’l ones that we enjoy?

    Bat Out of Hell Meatloaf
    All Souls Night Loreena McKennit
    Black Magic Woman Santana
Ding Dong the Witch is Dead The Hit Crew
    Feed My Frankenstein Alice Cooper
    Poison Alice Cooper
Vampires, Mummies and Holy Ghost Jimmy Buffet
    Ghostbusters Ray Parker Jr
    Hells Bells AC/DC
    Love Potion #9
Shadow of the Moon Blackmore’s Night
